I’m happy to report that Andrew W.K. has weighed in as a fan of Big Nick’s, one of my favorite burger places in the city. When I first started visiting here on my own in 2003 or so, I almost always (always?) stayed at On the Ave on the Upper West Side, and somehow ended up stumbling across it on my way back from a night of pub crawling in the village. I mean, any place that has this many burgers, stays open 24 hours, and serves nothing but big beers kicks ass in my book.
I actually recall that when I flew up to NYC to interview for my job, I made the most of the overnight trip by doing a little bar hopping the night before, and made the trek up to Big Nick’s from my hotel in midtown to scarf a burger down and soak up a bit of the alcohol. Perversely, then, I could give Big Nick’s a partial assist in landing said job, though that wouldn’t really be a point in its favor…
